
We are now 18 (although not in this photo); Azah from Pakistan has arrived, although his luggage hasn't. He is the one in the back between the cutlery and the paper towells. He teaches strategic and defence policy in an all-women's university in Islamabad. He should add something interesting to our on-going gender disputes.

This photo makes it look like a wild party. In fact, Rita had cancelled her party earlier on the day, which meant none of us had bought wine, so when she rescinded her cancellation there was only one bottle among us - enough for a medicinal portion only.
